Despite a decline in the final trading of Friday (30/12), the Indonesian Stock Exchange Composite Index (IHSG) has strengthened 4.09% throughout 2022. This main index of the Indonesia Stock Exchange (BEI) ranks second in Asia after Singapore's Straits Times, which has strengthened 4.27% since the beginning of the year.

The strengthening of the IHSG this year is lower than last year. The IHSG strengthened 10.07% throughout 2021.

On Friday (30/12), the IHSG closed at 6,850.62. The IHSG ended the year 2022 with a total market capitalization of IDR 9.499 trillion, according to BEI data.

The market capitalization of the BEI increased 15.06% this year even though the IHSG only rose 4.09%. This much higher increase in market capitalization was mainly due to the addition of issuers through IPOs and the issuance of new shares, both through rights issues and private placements of existing issuers.
