Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison (ISAT) reports a 121% increase in the number of customers in Sumatra in 2022, attributing the growth to the expansion of quality networks after the merger last year.

"Currently, our total number of customers nationwide has reached more than 100 million, growing 91% from last year. Specifically in Sumatra, the growth is even higher, reaching 121%," said Vikram Sinha, President Director and CEO of IOH, on Wednesday (2/22/2023).

Vikram further stated that the growth in the number of IOH customers in the Sumatra region, recorded at 121%, is directly proportional to the addition of 4G transmitter stations (BTS) in the Sumatra region, which also increased by 107% at the end of December 2022 compared to the previous year.

This has resulted in a 91% increase in the use of IOH's 4G services in the Sumatra region, with data traffic increasing by 98% during the same period.

"We are optimistic that IOH can provide the best technology, communication, and information access. Guided by a greater goal, we will continue to connect and empower the community by accelerating Indonesia's digital transformation," said Vikram.

In addition, the company's network coverage also increased with the increase in the number of BTS 4G stations, reaching 137,000, capable of handling high traffic volume. The company's network integration was completed according to target, even in the entire Jabodetabek area, providing a better digital experience for customers.

"IOH is still expanding its network reach and providing better services, including 5G networks. As of the beginning of this year, IOH's 5G network has reached eight cities, including Jakarta, Karawang, Bandar Lampung, Surakarta, Surabaya, Balikpapan, Makassar, and Bali," he added.

Meanwhile, reporting its financial performance for the fourth quarter and full year ended December 31, 2022, IOH continued to drive the growth of Indonesia's telecommunications and digital economy with solid performance in the first year post-merger throughout 2022.

The company recorded excellent growth with total revenue increasing by 48.9% (YoY) or IDR 31,388.3 billion to IDR 46,752.3 billion. EBITDA was recorded at IDR 19,468.7 billion, up 40.2%, with an EBITDA margin of 41.6% in 2022.

The current period profit attributable to the owner of the parent entity was IDR 4,723.4 billion. The company's mobile customers increased by 62.5% to 102.2 million, with data traffic growth of 91.8% in 2022, contributing to a 61.3% increase in data revenue compared to the previous year.

"We are delighted to announce the financial and operational achievements in the first year of IOH's official operations in Indonesia. All indicators show positive results, and we can demonstrate the value of synergy to all customers and stakeholders. All of this can only be achieved through their support and trust," Vikram added.

"We are committed to continuing to provide an impressive experience to all loyal customers, increasing community productivity, and contributing to the growth of Indonesia's telecommunications and digital economy in the future," he concluded.
